SIA 40 Under 40 | Staffing Executive | Human Capital Visionary | Entrepreneurial DNA The Mechanical Engineer (Owner’s Engineer) will act as the owner’s technical representative for midstream pipeline projects, with a strong focus on compressor stations and meter stations. This role will oversee EPC contractors and vendors, ensuring all deliverables meet technical, regulatory, safety, and performance requirements.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include providing design review and approval of contractor packages, vendor submittals, and mechanical specifications; validating compressor, piping, and metering equipment selection; and ensuring compliance with ASME, API, DOT, and PHMSA standards.
Support field execution, responding to RFIs, managing change orders, and ensuring construction and commissioning align with owner expectations.
Collaborate with cross-discipline engineering teams (civil, electrical, I&C, process) and act as the primary liaison between owners, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
The role requires strong technical acumen, the ability to mitigate risks, and the capability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
10+ years of oil & gas/midstream project experience, with direct involvement in compressor station and meter station facilities.
Prior experience serving as Owner’s Engineer or Owner’s Representative preferred.
In-depth knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.8, API 618, API 650, and DOT/PHMSA standards.
Demonstrated experience in reviewing EPC contractor deliverables, mechanical design validation, and equipment selection.
