Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will support midstream project execution, overseeing EPCM contractors in the design, construction, commissioning, and startup of electrical systems for pipelines and related facilities. This role ensures compliance with industry codes, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on electrical design and implementation. Projects include natural gas compressor stations, booster stations, metering stations, and valve sites. The successful candidate will also help advance our clients pipeline’s electrical engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a wide range of electrical engineering assignments, applying technical expertise and industry knowledge. Support project delivery across all phases, ensuring safety, quality, and operational reliability. Oversee EPCM contractors, monitor design progress, and verify compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements. Participate in front-end, detailed engineering, procurement, bid evaluations, inspection, construction, and commissioning. Review and approve electrical deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Conduct quality assurance checks and provide technical input to project teams and contractors. Resolve design issues and participate in safety and design reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, JSA, Model Reviews). Execute power system studies and electrical calculations as required. Drive innovation to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems. Support procurement activities, including RFP package reviews and vendor technical evaluations. Participate in FATs, SATs, and provide on-site field support during construction and commissioning. Travel to contractor offices and project sites for meetings and coordination. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams. Deliver presentations and prepare reports for stakeholders. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems emphasis preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Experience 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience on medium to large EPC projects. Oil & Gas industry experience required; midstream strongly preferred. Experience with Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC project phases. Technical Skills Expertise with medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, controls, and protection. Knowledge of transformers, e-houses, switchgear, MCCs, substations, grounding, lighting, and hazardous area classification. Proficiency in ETAP power system software preferred. Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, API standards, OSHA, and natural gas engineering practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, GIS Viewer, Hexagon, and related tools. Other Skills Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to integrate new technologies and manage changing priorities. Team-oriented with experience working across multiple disciplines. Safety-focused mindset and demonstrated leadership ability.
