Overview
Job Description: Join University of Chicago Medicine, as an Advanced Practice Provider in the Short Stay Unit. As the Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management in the general medicine patient population. The APP will manage a caseload of patients and exercise autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Additionally, you will provide healthcare and patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, and completing administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership.
Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job Functions
Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness
Pre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests
Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
Assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care on an advanced level
Nurse Practitioner Required Qualifications
Master’s of Science in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice
Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration
Must be certified as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient, general medicine or hospital medicine experience as a PA or NP.
Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant experience as a PA or NP.
Current BLS/ACLS certification
Physician Assistant Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s program
Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois PA licensure / registration
Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient, general medicine or hospital medicine experience as a PA or NP.
Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant experience as a PA or NP.
Current BLS/ACLS certification

Shift: Rotating- Weekend shifts only 3 (12hour shifts) every 6 weeks
