Full Time Position Overview We are hiring several Estimators to support our Kiewit Building Group in the Vertical market. We are looking for individuals with a few years of estimating under their belt for engineering/construction projects, who are passionate about project planning, risk management and detail-oriented work, and who want to grow their career in estimating and preconstruction engineering. You will work with seasoned estimators, supporting various design/build estimates for projects around the East coast, for vertical buildings that include new construction, modifications or upgrades for various types of buildings including government, historical, mixed-use/commercial, higher education, healthcare, sports facilities, large private healthcare, hotels, and high-rises. District Overview Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, including office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and interior construction with tenant improvements. Capabilities include general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development. Location You will be required to work in our Springfield, Virginia office. Responsibilities

Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs. Review owner plans and specifications to understand the project and develop a plan for construction to serve as the basis for the estimate. Reviewing and assisting with proposals and other documentation to prepare cost estimates. Review bid and contract documents and home office legal department opinions. Conduct site investigations prior to forming a plan of operations to identify problems or unusual conditions. Utilize engineering techniques and procedures to conduct investigations and adhere to company policy and procedures. Perform design work as required by the project beyond the estimator scope; handle major technical problems during bid preparation. Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, including new equipment, methods and procedures. Become proficient in Kiewit’s estimating program, InEight Estimate. Provide leadership and strategy in subcontractor and vendor selection. Prepare special engineering studies or reports required by certain bid items or conditions. Consult with owners on problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc. Qualifications Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology, OR if no degree, minimum of 8 years related work experience leading to estimating knowledge and abilities. Prior Field Engineers/Superintendents with Estimating field experience encouraged to apply. 3+ years' related estimating experience in the engineering/construction space. Experience with resource-loaded/cost-loaded estimates and material takeoffs. Experience with vertical Building projects, preferably design/build estimates. Attention to detail, strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and estimating software tools. Willingness to visit project sites for walkdowns for estimating purposes. Other Requirements Regular, reliable attendance. Work productively and meet deadlines timely. Communicate professionally with supervisors, employees and others; work in a team environment. Perform work safely; understand and follow instructions, warning signs and policies. Work during normal hours; overtime and weekends as required. May work at various locations; conditions may vary.
