Solar and Battery O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Manager

is responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable functioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role supports the Project Manager, Construction Superintendent, and our Procurement and Engineering teams. Responsibilities

Overseeing daily operations and maintenance: Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of solar and battery assets, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions. Handle new non-company installed or owned O&M inquiries: Price, proposals, and manage new 3rd party O&M inquiries to grow the O&M Division. SCREC Sells: Manage relationship with WREGIS, aggregator vendor, and customer for the sale of Solar Renewable Energy Credits. Coordinate with accounting during transactions. Preventive and corrective maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, maintenance tasks, and repairs to optimize system performance and minimize downtime. Troubleshooting and resolving system faults: Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical, mechanical, and SCADA systems, addressing faults promptly. Team and RMA vendor management: Coordinate technicians and subcontractors, provide training, ensure safety procedures, and promote a safety-focused culture. Performance monitoring and analysis: Use SCADA and other monitoring platforms to track performance, compare against expectations, and identify optimization opportunities. Budget and resource management: Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance logs, ensuring efficient resource allocation within budget. Compliance and safety: Adhere to electrical codes (NEC, NESC), OSHA safety regulations, environmental regulations, contractual agreements, and industry best practices. Reporting and documentation: Prepare and present technical reports, performance analyses, and maintain detailed records of O&M activities and data. Stakeholder collaboration: Work with internal teams (engineering, operations, CEO) and external partners (vendors, clients), providing updates as required. QA/QC inspections and commissioning: Lead quality assurance checks, system commissioning, and diagnostics. Development support: Assist with technical due diligence, risk assessment, and design specification development for new projects, especially for pre-operational assets. Qualifications

Technical expertise:

Deep technical knowledge of solar PV systems, BESS (some), inverters, combiner boxes, and electrical systems (up to 1000VDC and 480VAC). O&M experience:

Significant hands-on experience (5-8 years) in the operations and maintenance of commercial or residential battery energy storage systems. SCADA and monitoring platforms:

Strong working knowledge of SCADA and performance monitoring platforms used in renewable energy systems. Troubleshooting and problem-solving:

Excellent diagnostic skills to identify, analyze, and resolve technical faults and system malfunctions. Leadership and team management:

Ability to lead and motivate a technician (currently 1-2), provide training, and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards. Communication and reporting:

Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, stakeholder communication, and clear instructions to teams. Analytical skills:

Ability to analyze performance data, identify trends, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency. Education/certifications:

A technical degree (electrical engineering, renewable energy) or related certifications (such as NABCEP or OSHA 30) are preferred. Work environment

This role often combines office-based work (data analysis, reporting, management) with fieldwork at regional project sites. The solar and battery O&M market is growing, with increasing demand for skilled professionals to manage operations and maintenance of renewable energy and BESS infrastructure. Compensation

Salary: $80,000 – $110,000 per year. Full-time; Monday–Friday. Vacation after one year, plus 7 paid holidays. Experience
