Overview MWR Maintenance Mechanic Lead (Marina) role at Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR). This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department of Commander Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW). The primary purpose is to perform a variety of tasks to operate, maintain and repair buildings, grounds, related structures, fixtures and utilities. Typical work assignments include visual inspections and operational tests to determine necessary maintenance and repair of all MWR facilities.

Responsibilities

Onsite-working leader responsible for repair services, electrical maintenance, plumbing, carpentry-related skills, grounds maintenance, moving and setup of furniture and equipment, and other related duties.

Plan weekly and daily work schedules and sequence of operations; establish deadlines and priorities based on the weekly schedule, maintenance requests, and policies established by higher-level supervisors.

Determine which assignments can be done concurrently and which require sequential treatment; assign and revise tasks considering personnel, skill levels, equipment and materials availability.

Prepare and maintain daily time and attendance records; direct maintenance personnel and ensure final inspections and quality assurance checks for all work performed.

Perform administrative duties related to planning, estimating, purchasing, record-keeping, maintenance manuals, and documentation in accordance with CNRSW regulations.

Support special equipment movement tasks within MWR facilities (furniture movement, setup, equipment movement, transportation to/from warehouse, assembly, disposal of worn gear); operate a Counter-Balanced Skip loader with attachments as needed.

Exercise proper use and care of tools and equipment; ensure compliance with hazardous waste procedures and environmental permits as a Hazardous Waste coordinator for up to 90-day collection sites; maintain the MSDS list and perform daily inspections for leaks.

Additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of a background investigation; background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and background inquiry forms.

Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check; any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Must be able to lift and carry supplies and materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Use of hand trucks and dollies may be required.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years in maintenance or construction work.

Practical working knowledge of subordinate duties as well as administrative requirements.

Sound knowledge in plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical maintenance.

Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment and tools.

Ability to maintain records and reports; knowledge of inventory procedures and controls.

Ability to perform construction repairs and maintenance; ability to instruct; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively with others.
