Senior Mechanical Engineer - Electronics Packaging (Onsite) in Richardson, TX. This role focuses on development of electronics equipment enclosures and integration into rack-level assemblies, with considerations for high-power components, RF shielding, size, weight, and power dissipation. The position requires ownership and coordination with a cross-functional team to ensure quality and compliance throughout the lifecycle, supporting military communications missions. This is an onsite role located in Richardson, TX. What You Will Do
Communicate technical topics clearly to both technical peers and non-technical team members. Participate in peer reviews, mentor team members, and document knowledge to provide technical guidance. Interface with cross-functional teams (Electrical and Systems engineering) to ensure requirements compliance throughout a product’s lifecycle. Work proactively with an integrated product team (IPT) to manage scope, budget, and identify risks and opportunities. Lead investigations into highly complex tasks and identify root causes of issues. Create military-compliant designs that incorporate custom machined/sheet metal parts and select commercial off-the-shelf items as required. Contribute to prototyping and testing activities to verify requirements compliance. Identify risks and mitigation plans for established risks. Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum 3 years of experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar) and applying best practices with these tools. Qualifications We Prefer
Active possession of a U.S. government issued Secret or Top Secret clearance. Background in military electronics packaging, chassis design, and electromechanical applications. Experience with material selection for thermal, weight, and corrosion considerations in aerospace/defense. Design and thermal management experience for electronics packaging with SWaP constraints. Experience with PCB design support (component selection and layout for mechanical compatibility). Ability to apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5. Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-1472, and form factors like EIA-310, ATR, or VITA. Hands-on experience with RF emissions, high-power wiring, and rugged environments (EMI, EMP, nuclear exposure). FAE/FEA familiarity (Ansys) and agile hardware development practices. Experience with CAM and earned value, rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing), anti-tamper and TEMPEST considerations. Ability to lead a team and mentor junior engineers. What We Offer
