Senior Electrical Engineer Position Overview The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems within refinery operations. This role provides technical expertise, supports electrical system integrity, and oversees the integration of power systems with process automation. Key focus areas include equipment design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company engineering practices. Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for high- and medium-voltage power systems, including substations, switchgear, and motor control centers. Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and deliver technical assurance to maintain system reliability and performance. Support integration of electrical systems with instrumentation and process control systems. Conduct hazard assessments, perform electrical safety audits, and implement corrective actions. Review and approve Management of Change (MOC) requests to ensure safe, effective system modifications. Develop and review electrical specifications, design packages, and technical standards. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, API, NESC). Establish and maintain emergency response plans for electrical incidents and system failures. Implement quality control measures to ensure engineering deliverables meet technical, safety, and operational requirements. Contribute to energy efficiency projects and power system optimization initiatives to enhance cost-effectiveness and environmental performance. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical power systems engineering within a refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment. Strong knowledge of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) distribution systems and associated equipment. Expertise in electrical system protection, coordination studies, arc flash analysis, and grounding practices. Proficiency with applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, API, NESC). Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and apply safety best practices in both design and field environments. Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure. Experience with electrical modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM). Familiarity with refinery process integration and control system interfaces. Knowledge of SAP or comparable CMMS platforms for maintenance and inspection management. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills within cross-functional teams. Details
