Assistant Professor - Inorganic Chemistry (USF)
The Department of Chemistry at the University of South Florida (USF) seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time and tenure-earning position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a research focus in Inorganic Chemistry and teaching commensurate with the position. The position is expected to start August 7, 2026 on the Tampa campus, with a competitive salary and start-up package. The ideal candidate will establish a strong, externally funded research program and must contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities Develop and lead an externally funded research program in Inorganic Chemistry. Deliver teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in Chemistry, including inorganic courses. Contribute to service, mentoring, and curriculum development as part of the department and university missions. Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or a closely related field with a promising record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor. Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated education research experience beyond the PhD. Preference will also be given to applicants who have expertise or experience in teaching upper-level undergraduate chemistry courses including Inorganic Chemistry or Materials Science.
