Overview Adjunct Faculty, Nursing — Dominican University of California, San Rafael, CA. The university is seeking Clinical Instructors to work part-time with cohorts of 6-10 students in varied clinical agencies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Clinical Instructors are considered Dominican adjunct faculty and are members of SEIU. Reporting to the Nursing Associate Dean, this role involves teaching and mentoring in undergraduate nursing settings.

Responsibilities

Complete four unit teaching assignments in undergraduate level nursing courses focused on application of theoretical content within clinical practice settings

Assist nursing staff to prepare students for clinical agency rotations through completion of selected agency onboarding requirements

Orient students to clinical agencies at start of the clinical semester

Utilize course syllabus to oversee clinical activities, mentor, and advise 6-10 students in clinical setting(s) for up to 90 hours per semester

Regularly communicate with students

Communicate and collaborate with theory course faculty, Nursing Assistant Director and Nursing Associate Dean

Complete clinical evaluations at midterm and end of semester

Medical-Surgical Nursing I, II, and III

Child and Family Nursing

Maternal-Newborn and Women's Health Nursing

Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing

Leadership and Nursing Care Management

Geriatric Foundations

Community Health Nursing

Health Assessment Across the Lifespan (Lab)

Nursing Fundamentals (Lab)

Nursing Research & Senior Thesis

Qualifications

Required: BSN or higher (applicants with ADN should contact the Nursing Assistant Director)

A minimum of 1 year of patient care experience in the subject area

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing (MSN)

Compensation Adjunct Faculty members are employed in a professional capacity at the University. For courses, including service-learning courses and laboratories, the University compensates Adjunct Faculty Members on a per-unit basis for Course-Related Work as set forth in Article 15 of the CBA. All other duties or work performed on behalf of the University as an Adjunct Faculty Member are compensated in accordance with Article 12 - Faculty Development or Article 16 - Special Compensation. Adjunct Faculty Members who teach on a per-unit basis shall receive compensation per unit for assignments as an instructor for a credit-bearing course or laboratory. Movement through the step system shall be based on total number of Dominican Points and satisfactory performance, as set forth in Article 13, Performance Evaluation.
