Senior Mechanical Power Engineer
role at HDR. HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our national Power Generation team. The role involves leading the project mechanical team, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, monitoring and communicating project status, and providing mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both technical and contractual levels. Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical engineering effort on projects and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
Monitor progress and communicate project status to stakeholders.
Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects, including technical and contractual aspects.
Define and execute project roles, which may include lead mechanical engineer, project engineering manager, and possibly project manager; collaborate with a multi-discipline team.
Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design.
Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines and/or large reciprocating engines.
Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm is desired.
At least 10 years of experience in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects.
Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
Proficient in working within established schedules and budgets.
Less than 10% travel for client and vendor meetings and site visits.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation project execution.
Professional Engineers license (PE) or P.Eng.
Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples: PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit).
