Our Power Generation team is growing to meet strong capacity demand signals, and HDR seeks a Senior Mechanical Power Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer. Locations available include Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland, Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St Louis, Syracuse. Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Power Engineer, you will join HDR’s national Power Generation team. You will lead the project mechanical team, coordinate with other disciplines, monitor and communicate project status, and provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects at both technical and contractual levels. Project roles will vary by project size and type, and may include lead mechanical engineer, project engineering manager, or project manager. Most tasks are performed collaboratively with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines. Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design. Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or SME. Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation. Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired. Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects. Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs. Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget. Travel less than 10% for client meetings, vendor coordination, and site visits. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. A minimum of 10 years of experience. Professional Engineers PE or P.Eng license. Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector. Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit).
