Senior Cost Engineer/Electrical Estimator

to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role involves working on electrical construction projects from bid and proposal stages through to construction completion, ensuring compliance with standards, specifications, and budgets. Responsibilities

Develop project budgets and cost codes; assist in preparing technical proposals, including scope of work, management plans, work sequences, safety, quality control, and commissioning. Gather data and assist in preparing bid estimates and design/build proposals. Develop and present detailed project scopes to clients and meet with potential customers to present proposals. Manage day-to-day project operations or specific project sections. Create project schedules using the Critical Path Method; assign costs and manpower to forecast cash flow and staffing needs. Review plans and specifications to determine material and equipment requirements, ensuring compliance with project standards. Perform take-offs from drawings; price change orders. Apply cost fundamentals and maintain current pricing information from suppliers and contractors. Identify value-added solutions and cost-saving opportunities. Establish labor and productivity rates. Manage change orders, including pricing, tracking, and resolution. Coordinate project logs, schedules, design development, and compliance matrices. Assist in field inspections and productivity tracking. Qualifications

Education 3+ years of experience with a Master's degree. 5+ years with a B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management. 8+ years with a related associate degree. 10+ years with a High School diploma or GED. Requirements Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with estimating, project management, and scheduling software. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints. Knowledge of design principles, codes, and safety standards. Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials, and specifications. Experience with contract documents, including drawings, subcontracts, addenda, and change orders. Technical writing experience. Ability to plan and organize activities effectively. 2-3 years of experience in the communications or electrical field preferred. Knowledge of electrical plans, blueprints, and drawings. Developing goals and prioritizing work efficiently. Ability to produce high-quality work and collaborate effectively with others. Must pass a background check. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Desired Skills

Local candidates preferred. Experience with MS Project, P6, and Accubid preferred. LEED certification, DBIA membership, Journeyman Electrician License, E License, or EIT License are advantageous. Abilities

Ability to work with extended computer screen exposure. Sitting for long periods. Reach with hands or arms. Finger dexterity for manipulations like keyboard use. Effective listening and communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend written information. Apply rules to solve specific problems logically. Understand and interpret spoken language.
