Senior Mechanical Power Engineer

HDR HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our national Power Generation team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be joining a highly capable, multi-discipline team that supports power and energy projects primarily within the utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors. Primary duties typically involve leadership of the project mechanical team, coordination with other engineering disciplines, monitoring, and communication of project status, and providing mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both a technical and contractual level. Preferred candidates will have significant experience utility-scale power generation systems and equipment, and proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead design projects. Typical deliverables developed by this individual and/or their team include construction drawings, bid specifications, mechanical equipment sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates. Lead mechanical engineer and project engineering manager Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects Coordinate with other engineering disciplines Monitor and communicate project status Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering A minimum of 10 years of experience Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software HDR is committed to the principles of employment equity.
