Job Description The Customer Reliability Engineer works directly on-site at customer facilities to support reliability programs, optimize equipment performance, and provide hands-on technical expertise for mechanical seals and related systems. This role bridges engineering, customer support, and field service to ensure long-term reliability and partnership success. Key Responsibilities: Perform seal and equipment evaluations, selections, and recommendations with oversight from account/regional engineers. Lead and support customer reliability personnel on-site. Review customer applications and recommend improvements to increase MTBR (mean time between repair). Analyze customer data and submit findings/recommendations using John Crane application tools. Direct the installation and commissioning of seals and auxiliary support systems. Observe, collect, and evaluate reliability data, reporting through John Crane’s reliability software (e.g., ServiceMax). Maintain equipment surveys and provide oral/written communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Deliver technical presentations and training for customer maintenance and operations staff. Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and gather equipment data sheets for review. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience with mechanical seals, rotating equipment and basic engineering principles applied to perform work assignments in addition to PC and software knowledge. Knowledge of labor reporting, work order variances, QAD, MFG-PRO, SAP, or equivalent. Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-stress environment. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as needed to meet business demands. Experience working in a diverse environment with a global company is a plus.
