Overview
The Division of Cardiovascular Sciences and the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time position at the Instructor rank. Responsibilities include evaluation with diagnostic testing and history taking in patients with suspected or confirmed cardiology diagnoses referred from Internal Medicine, Emergency physicians, or other specialties. The role involves communication with patients, families and referring providers regarding recommendations and findings based on current guidelines, education regarding diagnosis, testing and results, and independent patient care in the cardiology clinic under general or indirect supervision. The position includes medical management, initiating, monitoring and altering pharmacologic or lifestyle regimens. Responsibilities
CLINICAL – 90%: Evaluation with diagnostic testing and history taking in patients with suspected or confirmed cardiology diagnoses referred from Internal Medicine, Emergency physicians, or other specialties. Triages inpatient consults, and handles patient phone calls, renews prescriptions, coordinates care, and assesses post-procedure problems. ADMINISTRATIVE – 10%: Assist and coordinate patient care with referring providers, arrange outpatient follow-up and recommendations based on findings. Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, findings, and follow-up. Address patient and staff inquiries via medical records. Document all orders, procedures, and progress notes in the patient’s electronic medical record. Perform other duties as assigned. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department. Qualifications
Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor. Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse degree program with certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant degree program with certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64. Board certified or eligible in Acute Care or Acute Care Adult Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification. About Us
