Job Summary
Coordinates all aspects of cardiology echocardiography services. Assures quality standards are implemented and maintained in the region. Recommends capital equipment for regional purchase. Assists with human resources management. Essential Responsibilities
Coordinates all aspects of cardiology echocardiography services. Collaborates with supervisor, Medical Director, and Pediatric Department. Recommends, interviews, counsels, and evaluates echo lab staff - region wide. Creates echo lab staff work schedules and on-call schedules. Forwards schedule to supervisor and appropriate departments. Teaches, trains, coaches, mentors, and orients echocardiography staff in department protocols and procedures as well as proper operation of department equipment. Coordinates staff training and inservices. Serves as resource to and liaison between echo lab staff and supervisor/leadership. Assures echo lab staff are in compliance with mandatory training and inservices and registry requirements are maintained. Completes quality review on echo studies done - including reviewing images scanned and preliminary reports. Reports concerns and consistent gaps in performance to supervisor. Develops and maintains Cardiology PACs Digital Echo reporting templates for all Region inpatient and outpatient care areas. Assists in writing and reviewing policies, procedures, and forms relating to echo lab. Assists with resolution of problems and patient complaints. Maintains echo lab equipment in functional operating condition. Evaluates and recommends equipment purchases. Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair. Notifies supervisor of equipment problems and impact on echo lab operations. Assures adequate supplies. Maintains statistics regarding echocardiogram procedures. Provides feedback to staff, supervisor, physicians, and other departments regarding echo lab issues and concerns. Collaborates with supervisor to develop operation strategies. Evaluates trends in cardiology ultrasound. Keeps up-to-date regarding current technological changes. With Cardiologist, reviews with Cardiologists samples of echocardiograms, M-mode, 2-dimensional, doppler, and color flow coppler image along with calculations and measurements. Calibrates 2-D echo systems for quality control.
