Overview
Field Clinical Specialist – Shockwave Medical (Garden City, NY). This role provides case support to physicians within designated territories during peripheral and coronary interventional procedures related to the Shockwave Medical Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) technology. The Field Clinical Specialist may also support clinical studies, including device training, case support, and timely data collection. Some travel to support other territories may be required. Responsibilities
Provide physician and hospital staff training and procedural case coverage to ensure safe and effective use of medical devices. Meet internal and external customer needs with urgency and drive. Present clinical study training materials based on investigational plans to support safe and effective use of devices, including study protocol, instructions for use, core lab manuals, and case report forms. Manage key study investigators and maintain relationships with medical advisors and clinical leaders. Collaborate with clinical research colleagues to meet field needs, including site retraining and data collection for timely database locks; resolve critical issues. Handle administrative activities including procedures training, territory travel, and budget management. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in business, science, nursing, or related fields, or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years’ experience directly supporting interventional or surgical procedures within a hospital setting, or 1 year of industry, hospital-based life sciences, or sales support experience. Cardiovascular experience preferred but not required. Working knowledge of clinical research, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials. Ability to collaborate with regulatory agencies through clinical studies and market releases. Product knowledge including product vigilance and medical device reporting. High attention to detail, accuracy, and computer skills (MS Office). Finance and budgeting knowledge; strong prioritization and organizational skills. Excellent critical thinking, influencing, negotiation, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Energy, results-oriented mindset, and ability to motivate others; entrepreneurial, proactive attitude. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; capable of working independently or as part of a cross-functional team. Flexibility to changing requirements; willingness to travel >50% of the time; may lift objects up to 40 lbs; comfortable in both climate-controlled and non-temperature controlled spaces.
