Job Summary
Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement. Ensures the professional development of pharmacy staff by overseeing training, focused coaching, and executing formal performance management initiatives.
Responsibilities
Patient Experience: Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
Customer Service Leadership: Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and joyful patient experience, including empathy, courtesy, and Walgreens service traits.
Patient Engagement: Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, including patient consultation, medication management, drug therapy reviews, immunizations, diagnostic testing, and wellness services.
Events & Community Outreach: Participates in events reflecting the communities served as requested by leadership.
Operations: Counsels patients on use of medications, side effects, interactions, and privacy; refers to medical providers as needed to ensure correct medication use and satisfaction.
Pharmacy Tasks: Performs compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, medication management, and ensures accurate dispensing of prescribed medications.
Regulatory & Workflow: Ensures operations comply with regulations and policies; oversees staff scheduling, roles, coordination, and shift changes; opens and closes the pharmacy.
Good Faith Dispensing & Compliance: Ensures Good Faith elements are present in dispensing in alignment with laws when filling prescriptions.
Strategic & IT: Collaborates with Store Manager on business opportunities; maintains pharmacy systems knowledge and supports staff with technology; seeks productivity improvements.
Insurance & Documentation: Ensures claims are processed accurately to prevent rejections; resolves issues with insurers and providers; follows up on documentation and regulatory records.
Clinical Services & Virtual Operations: Performs immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services; supports virtual operations per guidelines.
Facilities & Records: Maintains pharmacy maintenance, cleanliness, equipment, and layout; prepares required state and federal records and reports.
People & Performance: Collaborates on hiring, discipline, and legal compliance; sets expectations and goals; recognizes improvements; manages performance and development; fosters career progression; addresses employee relations concerns.
Training & Personal Development: Maintains required licensing and credentials; pursues ongoing learning and professional development; completes required training and education credits.
Communications: Keeps staff informed of corporate health and wellness services or strategy information.
Business Performance & Planning: Analyzes performance data, manages inventory and asset protection, and identifies opportunities for improvement; develops relationships with local medical communities and promotes growth opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
Current pharmacist licensure in states within the district.
Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.
At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including dispensing, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing.
Experience with prescription dispensing and knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
Internal candidates: average leadership rating of 3.0 or higher on last performance review with no disciplinary actions in the last 12 months (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience in planning, organizing, and directing pharmacy staff.
At least 6 months of pharmacy experience with Walgreens.
