Overview
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for two full-time, teaching-oriented, non-tenured, continuing contract faculty positions in Mechanical Engineering, at the rank of Industry Assistant Professor, with a start date as early as January 1, 2025. The primary responsibilities are classroom and laboratory teaching and project/thesis mentoring in Robotics and Embodied Artificial Intelligence (AI). The successful candidate should be an excellent teacher and have research experience in robotics and embodied AI fields. The candidate must be able to mentor projects/theses in support of our MS program in Robotics and undergraduate courses in our Robotics minor. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear potential for teaching excellence, mentoring, curricular innovation, and, if desired, scholarly activity. Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities : Primary teaching of robotics courses per semester; classroom and laboratory instruction; mentoring of projects and theses in support of the MS Robotics program and undergraduate robotics courses; participation in program development and curricular innovation. Qualifications : Ph.D. in engineering or science closely related to Robotics (e.g., mechanical, electrical, computer, computer science, aerospace, industrial, civil engineering, or related disciplines); solid understanding of fundamental robotics areas (perception/sensing, planning/control, learning, and design); strong hands-on experience with robotics theory and software tools is a plus; demonstrated potential for scholarship, leadership, and curricular innovation; clear potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring. Note: This position is primarily teaching-focused and does not require ongoing research, though funded research opportunities may be arranged if the candidate wishes. The initial appointment may be 2–3 years and is renewable thereafter. Ideal candidates may include postdocs and research fellows actively involved in robotics research in academia or industry R&D labs. Application Materials

In compliance with NYC Pay Transparency Act, the annual (9-month) base salary range for the Industry Assistant Professor rank is $85,000–$125,000.
