Art Director - New York City | Hourglass Cosmetics | Hybrid Role - NYC Based Hourglass Cosmetics is a vegan and cruelty-free luxury beauty brand recognized for its high-performance products and innovative formulas. The in-house Creative and Content Studio is seeking a highly engaging and strategic Art Director to join the team and partner with the Creative Director on creative stewardship, content ideation, and execution. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in the luxury sector, with a strong understanding of consumer and cultural trends. You will execute and oversee the creative direction and strategy of the Hourglass brand identity across all communication touchpoints, ensuring a clear and consistent visual representation. The role requires shifting between ideation and design to bring brand stories to life across print, social, digital, retail, and OOH channels. This position requires a proactive creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for brand strategy, storytelling, and innovation. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders at varying levels are essential. What you do and where you will fit within the team is described below. Responsibilities
Act as a thought leader and strategic partner to the Creative Director in developing and evolving brand identity, language, and visuals. Support in upholding the creative direction and strategy for the Content and Creative teams from concept through execution across the consumer journey. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and marketing objectives into clear, on-brand ideas. Bring innovative creative techniques, emerging trends in art, design, fashion and culture, and current industry innovations. Provide mentorship to the design team, review work for accuracy and consistency, and ensure timely, on-budget delivery of projects. Inspire and develop Creative team members through project development, coaching, and performance management. Foster a culture of creative support, collaboration, and excellence. Minimum 7 years of art direction and design experience in beauty/fashion/luxury agency or in-house environment. Minimum 3 years of people management experience, managing designers directly. Proven on-set experience directing beauty photography and video. Exceptional portfolio showing 360 concept execution across stills, video, print, and digital projects. Ability to work through the full creative cycle: concept development, casting, pre-production, on-set direction, retouching, design direction, and asset delivery. Extensive experience in beauty graphic design with strong typography and layout skills. Experience in video including editing, motion graphics, animation, and color grading. Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, Figma, Premiere, After Effects, and Bridge. Must be able to work from Office at least 60% of the time. The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 per year. The exact base salary is determined by experience, skills, education, location, and budget. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus plan based on personal performance and company results.
