Overview The Instructional Designer plays a pivotal role in the Global Professional Development & Education team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality online and instructor-led learning programs, along with supporting materials. This position requires a blend of creativity, technical proficiency, collaboration, and organizational skills to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences tailored to the evolving needs of the attractions industry.

In addition to hands-on design work, the Instructional Designer will serve as a project manager for learning design projects executed by external contractors, partners, or vendors, ensuring alignment with IAAPA’s standards, timelines, and strategic goals.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Professional Development & Education, the Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with all members of the Global Professional Development team to support the success of IAAPA’s professional development initiatives.

Essential Duties Instructional Design:

Design and develop learning content in collaboration with SMEs, committees, and external partners.

Create interactive modules, videos, assessments, and job aids using instructional design best practices.

Support the growth of IAAPA’s professional development offerings through strategic content development.

Ensure content is accessible and available in multiple languages for global learners.

Project Management & Vendor Oversight: Manage instructional design projects, including managing communication and deliverables, and maintaining quality control with vendors, partners, and contractors.

Quality Assurance & Evaluation:

Conduct quality assurance and usability testing across platforms and devices.

Use learner feedback and industry trends to continuously improve content.

Asset & Documentation Management:

Maintain organized documentation of learning materials, including source files, version histories, and update logs.

Ensure all content adheres to IAAPA’s intellectual property policies and branding guidelines.

Key Performance Indicators Course Production & Delivery

Meet established course production targets as defined by the department’s annual goals, including the development and delivery of both online and instructor-led formats.

Ensure timely delivery of learning programs aligned with project timelines and strategic goals.

Learner Engagement & Satisfaction

Consistently increase and maintain a high learner satisfaction rating across all courses, based on post-course evaluations and feedback.

Use learner insights to refine instructional design and enhance overall learning experience.

Repeat Engagement

Increase and sustain a strong rate of repeat learner engagement on a quarterly basis, demonstrating the continued value, relevance, and impact of IAAPA’s professional development offerings.

Content Quality & Accuracy

Ensure all learning materials meet high standards for clarity, accuracy, and instructional effectiveness. Establish and maintain a regular cadence for reviewing and refreshing content to ensure continued relevance, alignment with industry trends, and accuracy of information.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning & Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Strong foundation in adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).

Proven experience collaborating with SMEs and cross-functional teams to develop effective learning solutions.

Proficiency in eLearning course authoring tools (Articulate Storyline and Rise preferred).

Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality learning products.

Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Portfolio demonstrating successful learning program performance and passion for creating engaging, impactful learning experiences.

Experience working with membership-based associations, nonprofit organizations, or in learning and development within the attractions industry is a plus.

Ability to work onsite at Headquarters office based in Orlando, FL.
