About The Role The Content Strategist is a client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with both clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist handles more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it affects other business areas to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO. What You’ll Do

Strategic Excellence and Best Practices:

Develop custom strategies and apply best practices to help clients achieve NSMs. Build initial client strategy from the project phase and continuously optimize strategies based on clients’ goals, campaigns, and performance while following Directive best practices. Collaborate with Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks affect strategy and goal attainment.

Craft creative briefs and content campaigns using competitor and audience insights.

Apply best practices to position clients to exceed goals, including: LTV:CAC modeling Customer Generation Share of SERP Content Production

Goal Setting:

Use available data to set client goals during engagement, with approvals from the Associate Director (AsD) who should participate in the meeting. Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.

All Goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client.

Project Management:

Ensure the planned strategy is executed. Communicate responsibilities within the Directive and client teams to progress toward goals. Use Asana for project management.

Delegate tasks to team members and clients and ensure timely completion.

Partner with Project Managers to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and due dates met, and communicated to the client.

Collaborate with content writers and designers to deliver content campaigns on time while maintaining quality.

Internal and External Communication:

Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables to become the best consultant for clients and their business, and proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership to drive results. Proactively communicate timelines for deliverables, goal progress, and use channels like Slack for ongoing updates between bi-weekly meetings.

Keep internal leadership informed of roadblocks, opportunities for account growth, and any changes on client accounts.

Reporting:

Regularly report on progress and impact. Cadence includes: Bi-weekly client meetings to discuss NSM progress and deliverables

Monthly reports

Quarterly reports

Bi-annual business review presentations

What You’ll Bring

Proven success implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building

Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics

Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders

Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools

Proven organizational, project, and time management skills

Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content

Agency experience required

B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required

Strategists should regularly seek opportunities for clients to grow with Directive, including: Growing into another service line such as SEO or Paid Media

Expanding within current service line (e.g., more content, SEO, or Paid Media budgets)

Referrals are encouraged at key moments (e.g., a point of contact starts a new role).

Work Environment

As a remote-first company, you can work from anywhere in the US, with optional offices in Irvine, CA.
