at Catholic Charities of Executive Office & Support Services. The
Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer 's combined system-wide oversight responsibilities include corporate compliance oversight, monitoring the adoption, implementation, and maintenance of the compliance program and HIPAA privacy compliance. This role fosters a streamlined system of communication for identifying risk areas, compliance and quality improvement opportunities, and training and process improvements needed to achieve or maintain quality and compliant services throughout the Catholic Charities System. As the
Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer , you will play a pivotal role in individuals’ lives, making a significant impact through the following responsibilities:
Draft and implement, as approved by the BOT Corporate Compliance Committee, an annual Corporate Compliance Work Plan that outlines proposed strategies and tasks addressing organizational compliance expectations, including the regulatory requirements outlined in 18 NYCRR Part 521.
Develop, implement, and oversee the Corporate Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, and related Standards and Procedures in accordance with organizational needs and 18 NYCRR Part 521; including annual review and prompt revision based on organizational experience, changes to regulation, policy, and/or applicable laws.
Oversee and independently act on matters related to the compliance program, including compliance investigations in all agencies of Catholic Charities, up to and including self-disclosures to the NYS Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) and/or other state or federal oversight agencies as required.
Liaise with OMIG and/or other state or federal oversight agencies in compliance-related matters, up to and including investigations and self-disclosures.
The Privacy Officer shall be accountable for privacy policies and procedures and for ensuring compliance with Federal and State privacy laws.
Develop, implement, and manage policies regarding privacy.
Promptly revise policies and procedures to comply with changes in the law, including standards, requirements, and implementation specifications, or to change a privacy practice that is stated in the Notice of Privacy Practices.
Make any other changes to policies and procedures as needed, provided changes are documented and implemented in accordance with regulation.
Develop and ensure efficient processes for documenting and retaining compliance and HIPAA privacy-related initiatives, activities, and records in accordance with agency record retention standard procedures and as required by 18 NYCRR Part 521.
Compensation : Minimum Salary: $75,000; Maximum Salary: $80,000 Schedule : Monday - Friday (35 hours/week)
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in a Human Service Field or Business Administration/Management
With 8+ years of combined program evaluation, quality improvement and corporate compliance experience at a director level or equivalent position
Master's degree in Human Services or Business Administration/Management
With 5+ years of combined program evaluation, quality improvement and corporate compliance experience at a director level or equivalent position
Experience
5+ years working with a diverse population
Department Specific
Ability to present information to appropriate levels of employees at all levels of the organization
Reputation for integrity and willingness to challenge higher levels of management on issues arising through compliance programs
Unbiased approach to situations
Understanding of government requirements/expectations for human service programs
