Overview

Our client, located between San Antonio and Castroville, is seeking a hands-on Payroll & HR Generalist to own in-house, full-cycle weekly payroll and day-to-day HR operations across office, shop, and field teams. You'll manage timekeeping, certified payroll compliance, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, and workforce programs that will keep their crews safe, paid, and supported. Responsibilities

Run weekly payroll (hourly & salary) in house: Review and update time entries from (office/shop/construction) and create weekly timesheet files. Handle per diems, garnishments, child support payments, federal tax deposits, W-2s, and 401(k) files/payments. Certified payroll & compliance: Prepare and submit certified payroll reports; manage LCP Tracker; ensure compliance with employment laws and multi-state requirements; respond to unemployment claims and employment verifications. HR operations: Lead onboarding/orientation and exit processes; administer benefits; track PTO, training, and certifications; manage disciplinary documentation; file and track workers' comp claims; coordinate random drug testing. Vendor & payables support: Review payroll-related payables (e.g., Aetna, Mutual of Omaha, Guardian, Cintas) and process online payments. People, safety & assets: Greet applicants and process prelim docs; post jobs across recruiting platforms; issue iPhones/iPads and provide basic training; order safety equipment (harnesses/lanyards); attend monthly safety meetings; manage employee uniforms. Other duties as assigned: Support payroll/HR and field operations as needed. What you'll bring: Experience running full-cycle weekly payroll and maintaining accurate timekeeping across office and field environments; working knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing-wage reporting; practical HR operations experience (onboarding/offboarding, benefits admin, PTO/training tracking, workers' comp claims, drug testing, garnishments); comfort partnering with operations, safety, and leadership; clear, proactive communication; ability to handle early-morning safety meetings and support a fast-moving, field-first culture. Qualifications

Experience running full-cycle weekly payroll and maintaining accurate timekeeping across office and field environments. Working knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing-wage reporting (LCP Tracker experience a plus). Practical HR operations experience (onboarding/offboarding, benefits admin, PTO/training tracking, workers' comp claims, drug testing, garnishments). Comfort partnering with operations, safety, and leadership; clear, proactive communication. Ability to handle early-morning safety meetings and support a fast-moving, field-first culture.
