Communications Strategist

Botany and Plant Pathology Department at Purdue University This is a full-time position within the Office of Enrollment Management Strategic Communications and Initiatives. You will help shape and execute communication strategies to support Purdue University’s student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts. You will report to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications and work to position Purdue as a top choice for prospective students while engaging current students. The role requires strategic planning, content development, and digital engagement to manage e-communications, websites, and higher education tools. Responsibilities

Track multiple projects and deadlines; support messaging strategies; optimize audience segmentation and engagement channels. Collaborate with Enrollment Management partners to align communication objectives with institutional priorities. Work with Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other units to ensure communications resonate with prospective and current students and support long-term enrollment goals. Qualifications

There are two levels: P2 : Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; minimum three (3) years of experience in marketing management, strategic planning, content creation, or executing an established communications plan; or equivalent combination of education and experience. P3 : Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; minimum four (4) years of experience in marketing management, strategic planning, content creation, or executing a communications plan; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills Needed

Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills Attention to detail and commitment to quality control Understanding of higher education enrollment communications and student recruitment, financial aid processes, and best practices in enrollment communications Experience reviewing and advising on communications plans Excellent written and verbal communication skills Creative concepting and iterative development Experience using digital tools, email marketing, and web content to engage key audiences Ability to track and communicate statuses on multiple projects under tight deadlines Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite apps Experience using Content Management Systems such as Cascade and WordPress What Is Helpful

Experience in recruitment marketing strategies Ability to tailor messaging for various audiences, purposes, and media Knowledge of basic design, video, or visual storytelling techniques Experience with platforms like Slate or similar enrollment-focused CRM systems Ability to follow and advise on brand guidelines Proficient in AP Style Ability to assess communication effectiveness using data, audience insights, and engagement metrics What We Want You To Know
