Requirements / Qualifications

The Volleyball Head coaching position is currently being offered at Unidos Middle School. Candidates should be experienced in the sport, have coaching experience, and a resume of working with student-athletes. Unidos Middle School seeks a coach committed to developing young athletes both on and off the field. Applicants will be required to obtain First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest, NFHS Concussion in Sports, and NFHS Heat and Illness Prevention certifications, as well as all other Napa Valley Unified School District Human Resources required documents. The season runs from September through October, lasting 5 weeks. The coach will receive a district stipend at the end of the season. Responsibilities include managing a five-week schedule, conducting daily practices, managing equipment, traveling with the team to away games, developing positive relationships with parents and players, and planning an end-of-season awards recognition. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of: Character-building aspects of sports, including techniques and methods of teaching and reinforcing core values such as sportsmanship and good character; Physical capacities and limitations of the age group coached; Coaching principles related to educational philosophy, adolescent psychology, nutrition, risk management, and the rules and strategies of volleyball; Oversight and responsibility for the entire volleyball program.
