The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for three tenure-ineligible positions to serve as an Assistant/Associate or Professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine within the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. These positions will focus on clinical operations but will include protected time to support scholarly pursuits based on a prior sustained record of achievement. This position carries a faculty appointment in the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is led by Andrew E. Muck, MD, MBA, and the newly created division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is led by Elisabeth A. Rogers, MD. We are seeking highly motivated individuals that especially value patient care and collaboration with colleagues. As leaders in pediatric emergency medicine candidates will play a pivotal role in establishing and shaping this new division.
The Department has an established emergency medicine residency program and fellowships in Medical Toxicology, EMS, Cardiovascular Emergencies, Ultrasound, Research, Administration, and Education. The UVA Health System is a 700-bed tertiary care and Level 1 Trauma Center with an annual ED census of 70,000, including 16,000 pediatric patients. Our pediatric population comes from a wide geographic area and has a very high acuity level with an admission rate of 15%. UVA Health is a quaternary referral center with complete pediatric subspecialty support and a very active pediatric trauma service.
Faculty members within the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine will have opportunities that are unique to the academic medical community. As a faculty member with UVA Health, there will be requirements and opportunities to grow and develop as a clinician, educator, researcher, leader, and through administrative work on committees, boards, panels and other areas beyond or complementary to the clinical operations. As well as other duties and responsibilities assigned as a faculty member and medical provider within UVA Health.
