Overview
Location: Beaverton Responsibilities
As our Senior Materials Developer, you’ll use advanced materials knowledge and collaborative skills to help create and execute a materials strategy, and be responsible for the on-time commercialization of resources. You’ll ensure seasonal materials project execution and the on-time commercialization of more complex products and projects, including the aesthetic approval of materials, decision-making on materials issues, and communication of the category materials strategy. You’ll collaborate with our Design and Merchandising teams to create and execute a category materials strategy and the seasonal themes that support business goals and meet consumers’ needs. You’ll execute materials that fall between seasonal developments and the longer-term projects being executed by the Advance Innovation team (AIT). You’ll research fabric trends and new innovations offered. You’ll drive analysis and material reviews that result in gender/category materials consolidation. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel/Textile design or a related field and 5 years’ apparel or industry experience Advanced knowledge of materials construction and properties Superior understanding of the design and development process from inception through final adoption Advanced technical materials and textile knowledge, including fibers, yarns, knit and woven fabrications, textile manufacturing, dyeing, finishing, and the ability to partner with a materials vendor to develop a material from inception to actual production Global Manufacturing and industry knowledge Knowledge of product creation process and the apparel business Knowledge of industry trends Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Product Data Management systems Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives Strong information-seeking skills and a drive to make things happen Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources Ability to exercise high degree of professionalism Ability to demonstrate a sense of style and creativity Ability to understand the big picture related to Nike business processes and consumer needs Ability to travel approximately 5% of the time Knowledge of outerwear materials and innovation is essential Skills and Certifications
