Responsibilities
Assist the Payroll Manager with respect to all aspects of payroll including data entry, reporting and clerical duties. Duties include development and implementation; wage administration and government reporting requirements.
Assist with managing the payroll account review and data tracking and entry for each employee, verifying hours worked and pay rates, and processing paychecks.
Audit timesheets for accuracy and compliance with payroll policy and procedures; contact preparers or approvers to resolve discrepancies.
Produce accurate and timely payroll in the payroll system; run reports from the automated time and attendance system each payroll cycle.
Interpret excel output reports, analyze data and recommend actions as necessary.
Calculate and process retroactive salary changes and payout earned time for terminated employees.
Prepare and handle special checks, stop payments, and replacement checks; manage distribution of checks.
Maintain accurate records of employee earnings, deductions, and benefits; resolve payroll problems; maintain payroll files in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the administration of student payroll and provide assistance with other payroll functions as needed.
Provide payroll coverage and administrative support to the Payroll Manager; assist in processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll; handle incoming bills and invoices for payment.
Complete internal and external surveys and reports as required and/or requested.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources preferred
SHRM certification or Payroll certification preferred
Experience / Certification
Previous payroll knowledge is desired
Knowledge of Colleague software for payroll processing is a plus
Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Commitment to providing quality services to employees
Ability to multi-task
