Part-time Music Coordinator at The Cluster Parishes of Portsmouth and Chesapeake
The Cluster Parishes of Portsmouth and Chesapeake are seeking to hire a part-time Music Coordinator (23 hours/week) to facilitate and plan music for all liturgies at Saint Mary Parish and The Church of the Holy Angels.The ideal candidate must possess a solid understanding of Catholic Liturgy; knowledge of liturgical music in various styles, leadership skills to assist with vocal training for cantors, and the ability to work in cooperation with and under the direction of the pastor. Demonstrating the ability to play the piano with proficiency is required. The ability to play guitar is a plus. One of the Masses at Holy Angels is Spanish. An understanding of Spanish liturgical music is preferred. A degree in music is preferred but not required. In addition to coordinating cantors, musicians, and choirs, this position will help coordinate holy days, weddings, funerals, and other accompaniment for special occasions. Salary is per the Diocesan scale. Education and/or Certification: Degree in Music performance and composition or equivalent education and experience. Experience: Three to five years of liturgical music experience. Strong knowledge and appreciation of Catholic Liturgy.
