Job Summary
Responsible for evaluating, re-evaluating, developing, and implementing a plan of care in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and best practice patterns.
Job Specific Duties
Participates in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary meetings related to patient care.
Maintains and documents productivity standards set by leadership.
Records patient documentation, statistics, and charges accurately and promptly according to departmental standards.
Works to improve access to care for patients.
Conducts and interprets evaluations based on medical concerns, developmental age, diagnosis, and prognosis; provides recommendations accordingly.
Maintains active communication with patients, caregivers, and team members regarding progress, issues, and home programs.
Develops a comprehensive plan of care with clear, measurable, and realistic goals.
Recommends and administers treatments based on clinical findings.
Prepares patients and families for discharge when maximum benefit or potential is reached.
Follows TRAAC guidelines for discharge planning.
Provides proof of at least one in-service on evidence-based practices and one peer review case study presentation.
Maintains ongoing continuing education units (CEUs) for licensure and professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
Active and in good standing with American Heart Association BLS certification
Active and in good standing with Florida Professional Physical Therapist license
Level II fingerprinting background check and Good Moral Character Affidavit within specified timelines
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Masters or Doctoral degree preferred
Membership in APTA and FAPTA preferred
Pediatric internship preferred
Minimum 2 years of pediatric experience preferred
Effective communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong analytical skills
Experience treating infants (0-15 months) independently
Cooperative and constructive interpersonal skills
Problem-solving abilities for care planning and response evaluation
Ability to remain calm under stress
Eligible to serve as a clinical instructor after 2 years of experience
