The Department of Surgery at SSM/Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking a passionate and motivated Abdominal Multi-Organ Transplant Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate level. Saint Louis University School of Medicine has a long-standing tradition of excellence in teaching, research, and patient care. Established in 1836, the school proudly awarded the first medical degree west of the Mississippi River. In 1972, Saint Louis University Hospital became the first in Missouri to perform a heart transplant. This is an exciting time for the field of abdominal transplantation in Saint Louis. Our rapidly growing program presents an outstanding opportunity to join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary transplant team dedicated to clinical excellence, innovative research, and the education of future transplant surgeons. We are looking for a skilled and team-oriented transplant surgeon with expertise in both kidney and liver transplantation, who is interested in expanding our kidney program and has the potential for leadership. Qualifications and Essential Functions: - Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery - Completion of an ASTS-accredited transplant fellowship program - Valid Missouri medical license (or eligibility to obtain) - Training in multi-organ procurement, and kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation is essential - Proficiency in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy; experience with robotic donor nephrectomy and robotic-assisted transplantation is preferred - Experience in dialysis access is advantageous - Demonstrated skill and interest in teaching learners at all levels -Opportunities for both clinical and basic science research are available, with a focus on normothermic perfusion and ischemia-reperfusion injury.
