We are seeking a highly skilled accounting professional to lead the compensation accounting function, one of the most critical expense areas on the firm’s P&L. This high-visibility role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, including the CFO, and requires a mix of technical accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and team management experience. The Manager, Financial Accounting will oversee a small team responsible for compensation-related calculations, reconciliations, and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while driving process improvements. Supervise and support a compensation accounting team to ensure accurate and timely execution of responsibilities.

Perform and review monthly compensation and bonus calculations across multiple business divisions.

Review changes to broker or employee agreements and update compensation accruals accordingly.

Prepare and distribute commission and bonus calculations to management and business heads.

Maintain accurate records of equity and deferred compensation plans.

Partner with Payroll, HR, and Finance to ensure proper communication of deferral amounts and other compensation-related data.

Review and post journal entries related to payroll, bonuses, benefits, and other employee-related expenses.

Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for compensation expenses.

Partner with internal control teams to strengthen processes and ensure compliance with established policies.

Support internal and external audits with reconciliations and documentation.

Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

Essential 4–8 years of progressive accounting experience.

Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines under pressure.

Ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders.

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA or equivalent professional credential (a plus).
