Job Description Summary: The Post Doctoral Resident position is a forty hour work week position that consists of four clinical days and one didactic day. The Post Doctoral Resident will provide client care four days a week at one or more clinical CHC sites. They will perform diagnostic psychosocial evaluations, develop care plans with clients and their families, offer individual, family, or group therapy as appropriate, lead a group therapy session, collaborate with psychiatric and/or medical providers who are part of the client’s care team, and document all clinical interventions in accordance with CHC policy, Joint Commission standards, and state regulatory expectations, while under supervision from one or more licensed psychologists. One day a week they will participate in a didactic day that will include group supervision, a quality improvement project and a didactic presentation covering various topics. Residents will participate in supervision training program with the opportunity to practice supervisory skills in a group and individual format. They have the opportunity to participate in a concentration experience in the areas of child and adolescent, key populations, opioid use and substance use disorder treatment, and health psychology.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct ethical, professional, and attention to detail oriented work, and ensure compliance with agency, state and federal mandates. Conduct individual, family/couples and group therapy in a primary health care setting across the life span. Participate in Program-specific clinical team meetings. Take part in a weekly didactic training seminar. Become proficient in the use of an integrated electronic health record and Performance Improvement processes. Learn and utilize telehealth initiatives to treat clients. Participate in developing supervision skills through group and individual initiatives. Participate in ECHO and deliver presentations. Work closely with medical and dental providers as part of CHC’s model of integrated care in a Patient Centered Medical Home. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary clinical team meetings with other behavioral health disciplines. Develop clinical and assessment skills with clients of all ages in a variety of settings, including in primary health care settings, with the opportunity to work in alternate settings such as schools, homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters for “Wherever You Are” clinical care. Gain or build upon experience using electronic health records and other state-of-the-art technologies to manage and deliver care. Participate in a Quality Improvement project to learn process improvement skills to apply to clinical practice. Participate in quality improvement initiatives offered by the agency such as the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Team (BHQI), and Agency Wide Performance Improvement Team (PI).

QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have completed an APA/CPA accredited doctoral program. Completion of an APA/CPA accredited doctoral internship is not required, although the internship experience should meet APPIC standards. All requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed before starting the postdoctoral training program and these requirements will be verified by CHC staff. Applicants with fluency in a second language are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Combination of sustained periods of sitting at keyboard, walking and stair climbing. Minimal lifting and carrying activities. Must be available to work one evening and one Saturday per month. Travel to and from CHC sites within Connecticut. Provide care via telehealth on site or remotely. Provide care face to face.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. This position must interface with patients, family members, community agencies and other providers within the organization utilizing both in person and telehealth platforms.
