Overview
SUMMARY: To carry out supervised skilled, semi-skilled and manual work in the maintenance and landscaping of the grounds. Also works on indoor plants maintenance, collection of recyclable items and to carry out the special project assigned to the department. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job. PIC cannot accommodate unpredictable or sporadic absenteeism, unless covered by federal/state law. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES and Other duties may be assigned. Carry out numerous landscape gardening duties, requiring a minimum amount of supervision. Clean up leaves, litter/debris and trash throughout PIC property and PIC adopted public areas. Required to operate and maintain landscape equipment i.e., leaf blower, mower, bush cutter, edger, power sprayer, soil auger, water blaster, glass, tin crusher. May require use of hand tools for garden maintenance and projects. Cultivate and edge planter beds and keep weed free. Plant, cultivate, water and spray pesticide when necessary. Required climbing to plant, prune, and fertilize trees, palms, shrubs, and ground cover around PIC property and PIC adopted public areas. Keep work and storage sites orderly; clean, care, and store tools properly. Perform nursery work. Propagate and care for plants in the nursery. Perform pressure washing on and outside property as part of PIC project and events. Handle irrigation repairs, pipe leaks, spray and rotor heads repairs including replacement of broken irrigation valves. Perform any masonry work as needed on walkways, retaining walls, and special landscaping projects. Handle maintenance of indoor plants in offices and F & B outlets. Handle maintenance of planter boxes at all buildings (Oceana A, Oceana B and Parking Garage). Performs minor maintenance work on nursery, cleaning drainage ditches, culvert, cleaning concrete walkways, decks, and gutters. Sprays and applies pesticide as directed and complete required documentation. Assist with property repairs on fences, gates, walls, concrete walkways and decks. Observe problems relating to plant health, machine operations, safety hazards and work, and immediately communicate to supervisors or managers. Assist in set-up and breakdown on F & B Functions. Carry out car park/garage duties i.e. clean-up and disposal of waste materials. Carry out and implement PICs health and safety policy; and emergency (fire, typhoon, earth quake) procedures. Perform other task by the supervisors, managers, department heads and executives. Carry out the PIC SMILE (Professional Individual Continuously Striving to Make Interaction Lively and Exceptional) to hotel guests and employees. Ensures/maintains cleanliness and upkeep of PIC property (picking up loose trash, material and debris and disposing of it in appropriate trash receptacles provided). Qualifications
A High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. An individual must have at least Basic Training CORE Pesticide certified. A commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License (Category 3-Ornamental Turf and Category 6-Right of Way). Must have a valid Guam Driver’s License. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; lift; pull; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must continuously carry equipment up to 25 pounds for up to a period of 2-3 hours at a time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 90 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
