Petroplan is actively recruiting for a Senior Manager of Total Rewards on behalf of a leading US-Based Energy Company. This position will be located in Arlington, Virginia and requires the ideal candidate to be in the office 5 days a week. Overview

The Manager will partner with executive leadership in developing and executing a comprehensive Total Rewards strategy that attracts, motivates, and retains top talent. Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards, this individual will oversee compensation and benefits operations, ensure compliance, and guide strategic project initiatives to support the company’s workforce goals. Responsibilities

Lead and coach members of the Total Rewards team, fostering professional growth and accountability. Partner with senior leaders to design and manage global total rewards programs—including compensation, benefits, retirement, engagement, and recognition initiatives—that align with organizational objectives and market competitiveness. Oversee all aspects of compensation and benefits programs, including executive compensation, salary structures, variable pay, and equity plans. Ensure all programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Evaluate the effectiveness of total rewards strategies and recommend enhancements to improve impact and cost-efficiency. Manage both fully insured and self-funded health plans, monitor key performance indicators, and forecast costs to support plan optimization. Lead the annual open enrollment process and drive employee education on benefit offerings, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, spending accounts, voluntary benefits, COBRA, and retirement plans. Oversee all benefit compliance activities, including 5500 filings, discrimination testing, 401(k) audits, and other required submissions. Manage leave of absence and accommodation programs in compliance with federal and state laws. Facilitate benefits and investment committee meetings with internal stakeholders. Audit and approve payroll benefit deductions and ensure timely funding. Oversee compliance initiatives related to leave laws, paid time off, FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and other regulatory requirements. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with external partners to optimize service delivery and cost. Collaborate with HR business partners to integrate total rewards programs into broader people and business strategies. Develop and deliver clear communication and training materials to promote understanding of total rewards programs among employees and leaders. Support the planning and execution of the annual total compensation and benefits review cycle. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, including at least three (3) years in a leadership role. Experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems preferred. Exposure to global benefits programs strongly desired. In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices, trends, and compliance requirements. Proven experience managing executive compensation and equity programs. Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levels. Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights to guide decision-making.
