Job Description The Undergraduate Career Advisor will deliver one-on-one career coaching, facilitate workshops, and manage key career development initiatives including industry-specific events, networking programs, and support employer site visits. The advisor will provide feedback on strategic and operational components of the career center, requiring leadership, maturity, and a collaborative spirit.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and relationship-building skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team. Flexibility, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to supporting both students and employer partners are essential to meet established goals.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree.

Three plus (3+) years of previous career coaching, recruiting, placement and/or project management experience preferred.

Experience with the unique needs of business students helpful.

Job Specific Qualifications – Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in career services advising across diverse populations is highly desirable.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and priorities.

Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

High level of discretion in handling confidential information.

Demonstrated accountability, follow-through, and relationship management skills both internally and externally.

Background in business fields or a strong willingness to learn deeply about Whitman\'s majors and related industries.

Intermediate technology proficiency, including Excel, database management, and online platforms.

Willingness and availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events or employer visits.

Ability to travel for student events, employer engagement, and professional conferences.

Responsibilities

Provide career counseling, advising, and coaching to global, diverse, and discerning full-time undergraduate business students, with specialization in finance and real estate.

Develop and implement career education programming for Whitman undergraduates in collaboration with the career center team.

Lead one-on-one and group sessions to facilitate skill development and exploration of opportunities; build knowledge of related industries and career paths.

Develop and deliver information with a teaching and learning focus in person, virtually, and through online resources based on best practices.

Evaluate gaps in student engagement and skillsets; create and execute plans to connect with students and equip them with necessary competencies.

Outcomes and Accountability

Track, audit, and analyze internship and post-graduation placement outcomes with attention to national reporting standards.

Provide thoughtful, thorough, and timely responses with proactive outreach to all involved parties.

Communicate critical information about Whitman undergraduate internship degree requirements to internal and external stakeholders.

Relationship Development and Employer Relations Support

Partner with employer relations staff, faculty, alumni, and students to understand strategic recruiting and hiring needs; convey information to students and identify appropriate candidates.

Communicate student skills and interests to corporate development and employer relations staff to influence strategy and opportunities.

Collaborate with faculty, alumni, students, and employers to foster relationships and create learning and recruiting opportunities for Whitman students.
