Main Purpose of Job Facilities Manager is administrative work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies. This classification involves analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvements. Employees in this classification do not supervise. The main purpose of this full-time position is the efficient operation of the Board of Nursing’s physical plant. This position will oversee the vendors and staff responsible for security, cleanliness, and maintenance. This position will be responsible for negotiating with the building manager (MDH Central Services), the property owner (lessor), and DGS as needed to ensure that the property serves the Board’s needs. Inventory management, furniture repair and replacement, and space allocation also fall under this role. This necessitates familiarity with MD State Procurement Law, DGS Leased Property Policy, and inventory management best practices. The Facilities Coordinator will report to the Director of Operations and is their chief advisor in matters related to the physical plant. In addition, this position will advise the Executive Director and Board of Nursing on current and projected issues affecting the Board’s offices. The communication and technical skills necessary to present this information effectively are required. Please note: this position will be required to lift 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
Experience in inventory management
Experience repairing and replacing furniture
