The Information Technology (IT) Cloud Architect is responsible for shaping the strategic vision and technical direction of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) cloud platform, ensuring that cloud solutions align with architecture principles, operational excellence, business goals, and best practices. Provides technical architecture leadership across multiple technology initiatives, driving scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions that support the organization's evolving needs. As a key technical leader within the Cloud Platform Engineering team, collaborates with Cloud Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, and Application, Security, and Development teams across Digital Technology Services (DTS) to establish best practices for cloud architecture, automation, and governance. Ensures that HMH cloud environments are designed for high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency while leveraging industry best practices for modernization and digital transformation. Leads architecture reviews, cloud design decisions, and roadmap development, advising senior IT leadership on cloud adoption strategies and optimization opportunities. Mentor and guide cloud engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement in cloud engineering practices. Ensures HMH cloud investments deliver long-term operational and financial value to the organization.

Responsibilities Lead architecture reviews, cloud design decisions, and roadmap development for the HMH cloud platform. Advocate for cloud adoption strategies aligned with business goals, modernization efforts, and industry best practices. Collaborate with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, and Development teams to establish, enforce, and continuously improve cloud architecture, automation, and governance. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to cloud engineering teams to foster technical excellence and best-practice adoption. Ensure cloud environments are designed for high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency, delivering measurable operational and financial value.

Qualifications – Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that totals four years. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, and cloud architecture, focused on designing and leading cloud-based solutions. Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS architectures. Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, automation, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools such as Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable cloud architectures with emphasis on security, compliance, and cost optimization. Knowledge of networking, security, and identity management in cloud computing, including zero trust, hybrid cloud networking, and secure cloud architectures. Experience with governance frameworks and cloud security principles, including HIPAA, SOC 2, NIST, and risk management in cloud environments. Ability to define and drive cloud strategy and technical roadmaps aligned with business goals and modernization. Ability to support cloud architecture recommendations with research, industry trends, and data-driven insights. Experience in enterprise IT environments across applications, middleware, storage, networking, information security, and operations. Ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance to cloud engineering teams. Strong consultative, communication, and collaboration skills with executives, architects, engineers, developers, and business stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess complex environments and develop scalable cloud solutions. Experience in agile and DevOps environments with automation and CI/CD practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and architecture diagrams. Knowledge of container modernization and container methodologies (GKE, AKS) and related frameworks. Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Qualifications – Preferred

Experience in healthcare or highly regulated industries. Leadership in cloud transformation initiatives, including large-scale cloud migrations and automation-first strategies. Expertise in architecting containerized and event-driven systems (Kubernetes, Docker) for large-scale distributed applications. FinOps experience with cloud cost optimization and budgeting. Experience defining and enforcing cloud architectural standards, reference architectures, policy enforcement, and governance frameworks. Multi-cloud expertise across GCP, Azure, and AWS with interoperability and hybrid cloud focus. Experience leading enterprise-wide cloud adoption, governance models, automation frameworks, and DevSecOps practices at scale. Licenses and Certifications

Google Cloud Platform Certified Professional Cloud Architect (Required for role). Licenses and Certifications Preferred
