in Corona, CA is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Glen Ivy Golf Club is one of Southern California's most unique golf courses and designed to provide a memorable experience for all golfers. With scenic views of the Temescal Valley, the par 72 course was designed by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson Sr. The creatively placed fairways, tees, and greens are as pleasing to the eye as they are challenging. The course weaves through avocado groves and canyons of the Santa Ana Mountains creating picturesque moments. For all players, Glen Ivy features generous landing areas, four teeing areas on each hole, and a memorable signature 18th hole with a 200' drop below to the fairway.
Glen Ivy Golf Club was designed to elevate the game of golf and to provide a memorable experience for our local community and public golfers of all levels. The course naturally integrates with citrus groves, hillsides and canyons and provides interest at every turn.
Manicured fairways and undulating greens are met with a variety of elevation changes and stunning backcountry views. The unique Southern California design provides a challenge for the most experienced of golfers and variable options for those just beginning.
Essential Purpose To manage the staff and operations of the Golf Maintenance Department, to ensure first class quality functional and aesthetic standards while maintaining the highest possible levels of employee morale.
Essential Duties
To hire, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to his/her position, to maintain highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
Excellent grasp of water saving techniques and dealing with non-potable water.
To schedule staff and operations most effectively to coincide with optimal weather conditions.
To understand and respond to maintenance processes; to oversee the purchase of all materials, supplies, and equipment needed to maintain and upgrade the quality of the golf course.
To establish and enforce golf course goals and policies.
To ensure that all golf facilities meet golf course/luxury resort quality standard, and guest satisfaction.
To have professional and consistent communication with all golf related departments, including weekly meetings with any departments impacted by golf maintenance procedures.
To prepare annual departmental budget, according to the specifications set forth by the Vice President of Golf Operations and the Corporate Director of Golf Maintenance with the assistance of the property Controller, and manage the course's operations within the budgets.
To ensure that the golf course, grounds, equipment, and all other facets of the course are properly maintained and protected.
To conduct periodic staff meetings to ensure all policies are understood and being followed.
To continually monitor and control departmental expenditures to ensure meeting operational standards while maintaining the budget, and monitoring staffing levels, salaries, and overtime so they stay within the prescribed guidelines.
To ensure the proper use, storage, and labeling of all hazardous substances used by Golf Maintenance employees, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
To ensure safe work practices of all Golf Maintenance staff, including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment and machinery.
Job Knowledge & Educational Level AA Degree in horticulture, turf management, or equivalent experience, required. Must have minimum four years experience in golf course maintenance, including at least one year in supervisory position. English fluency required. Spanish fluency helpful. Must have knowledge of all aspects of turf grass management and related equipment, to include latest technology and new products. Experience in management of POA greens is required. Experienced in construction, development of annual budget, employee supervision, and inventory control. Familiar with local Department of Health regulations, and current relevant laws governing handling of hazardous substances.
Skills and Aptitudes Demonstrated ability to train staff and ensure luxury resort customer service. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Organized and efficient. Safety-minded. Good team player. Detail oriented. Highly self-motivated. Ability to effectively manage staff to maintain a high level of morale and productivity. Ability to work well under pressure.
