Principal Quality Engineer

to support the Quality and Mission Assurance team located in

Rolling Meadows, IL . Primary Responsibilities Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

Assesses program performance and risks related to quality requirements to ensure contractual requirements are met.

Reviews and assesses contractual requirements for applicability.

Performs cost account management-related activities on programs supporting.

Establishes and maintains constructive working relationships with customers.

Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to ensure quality standards are in place and met.

Supports program gate reviews as required.

Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Works from engineering drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, and checklists to ensure items meet required specifications and quality standards.

Initiates Corrective Action Plans and works with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to identify the root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.

Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

Applies technical knowledge in industry-standard quality engineering methods, interpretation of drawing requirements and applicable specifications & standards, and mechanical measurement & analysis.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Basic Qualifications Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related STEM field with 5 Years experience; 3 Years experience with Masters; 1 Year experience with PhD.

Experience in written and verbal technical communication skills.

Experience in interpersonal skills – including the ability to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with stakeholders and customers at all levels.

Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.).

Experience with risk management principles and contractual requirement review.

Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.

US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Qualifications Earned Value Management CAM experience.

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).

Strong background in design and/or manufacturing of electromechanical, electro-optical, and/or opto-mechanical systems.

Seasoned facilitator for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities.

Well-versed in the application of industry-standard statistical methods, including through the implementation of statistical analysis software applications (e.g., Minitab).

Experience maintaining positive supplier relationships, including through successful resolution of supplier quality challenges.

Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range:

$95,800 - $146,300 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
