Overview

On-site Laboratory based role in Biomarker Development (BMD) within Molecular & Cellular Sciences (MCS) in Translational Medicine at Novartis Biomedical Research. The BMD team delivers biomarkers across proteins, metabolites, cells, genetics, genomics, imaging and digital endpoints with a data-driven mindset, timely delivery, and strong internal and external partnerships. You will identify and implement new biomarker methodologies, develop and validate innovative biomarker solutions, and deliver high-quality data to support advanced clinical programs. You will work closely with the biomarker activity lead and clinical teams to implement internal and external biomarker activities and interpret results to enable mechanistic, safety and efficacy understanding. Job Description Key Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise with a focus on ligand binding assays such as ELISAs (MSD, Luminex, ELLA), mass spectrometry, and point-of-care testing. Develop, validate and implement targeted singleplex/multiplex biomarker assays internally or at external vendors. Present results at internal meetings and collaborate with the MCS Activity Lead. Work in a matrix environment with a team of lab scientists to apply innovative biomarker solutions. Design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Ensure high quality and timely delivery of internal and external results. Conduct activities in compliance with Novartis policies, values and behavior and relevant guidelines. Network internally to expand scientific and technical knowledge. This is an on-site role (100%). Essential Requirements

BA/MS in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 4-7 years of professional hands-on experience in method development/validation of immunoassays in industry or biotechnology for Senior Scientist II; 7+ years for Principal Scientist I. A Bachelors with 6+ years may be considered; PhD with appropriate experience will also be considered. Proficiency running a variety of immunoassay platforms such as MSD, Luminex, ELLA, etc. Experience with Quanterix Simoa and Mass Spectrometry is a plus. Implement best practices for operation and maintenance of instrumentation. Experience in troubleshooting immunoassays and assay transfer to CROs. Experience with multiplex assays and profiling platforms is highly desired. Experience with automated Western blots; Cobas is a plus. Creative, self-motivated, able to work collaboratively and independently. Analytical thinking, responsibility, and teamwork skills. Experience working in a global organization and matrix-resourcing model. Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SoftMax Pro, SMART Book, Spotfire, GraphPad Prism, Watson LIMS). Good communication skills in English (oral and written). Understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to Biomarker Development (e.g., GCLP, ICH). Note : This is a dual-level posting. Final level and title will be determined by the hiring team based on the skills, experience and capabilities required. Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: Senior Scientist II: $93,800 to $174,200/year Principal Scientist I: $114,100 to $195,600/year Salary ranges may be adjusted during the period 2025; final pay determinations depend on location, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Total compensation may include sign-on bonuses, restricted stock units, discretionary awards, and a full range of benefits (e.g., medical, 401(k) and vacation time).
