Psychiatric Social Worker 3

– Full-Time, Permanent Spokane Veterans Home We are accepting applications for a full-time Psychiatric Social Worker 3. This role ensures that Veterans at the Spokane Veterans Home receive the behavioral and social interventions needed to enhance their quality of life. The expected shift is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Updated as of July 1, 2025: This position is eligible for Supplemental Basic Shift Premium for 24/7 Facilities. The premium applies to on-location duties and is $1.00 per hour for each hour of basic shift premium, excluding overtime. The premium expires on June 29, 2027. Responsibilities

Conduct interviews for ongoing assessment and treatment with a focus on residents’ cognitive, mood, psychosocial, and behavioral status. Provide crisis intervention as needed. Monitor, track, and report on resident and family complaints and grievances. Complete documentation timely and in accordance with state and federal regulations. Perform assessments, one-on-one visits, phone calls, care conferences, and discharge planning. Serve as facility discharge planner, assessing resident readiness for discharge and planning for smooth transitions to the community. Maintain working knowledge of community resources and related written materials. Conduct and participate in resident/family groups, facilitate care conferences, and provide input on resident status within area of expertise. Develop behavior plans and maintain behavior monitors when necessary. Ensure psychotropic medications are tracked and monitored. Prepare reports for the behavior team on assigned residents. Review and monitor plans with team support and make recommendations. Provide in-service education to staff as required by regulation and as needed. Provide oversight, direction, training, performance development plan expectations, and evaluations, and manage leave and timesheet reporting.

Qualifications

Required: Master’s degree in social work (CSWE-accredited). Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing care for individuals in a nursing home setting. Advanced practice knowledge in aging, disability, mental illness, PTSD, and Alzheimer’s disease. Have or obtain Licensed Social Worker Associate Advanced (LSWAA) in Washington within twelve (12) months from hire date. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking). Preferred/Desired: Current Washington licensure for LASW, LSWAIC, or LICSW (or equivalent). Specialized training in mental illness and treatment of older adults. Geriatric and dementia care experience. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Knowledge of medical conditions related to psychosocial wellbeing, psychoactive medications and side effects, federal tags, WACs, and Veterans’ issues/Resources. Ability to travel as required; valid driver’s license and automotive insurance for state business.

Special Requirements

Background check per WDVA policy; annual TB screening; respirator use and PPE as required. Regular and reliable attendance; willingness to work as needed. Compliance with WDVA policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements; confidentiality agreement. Work authorization without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
