This position exists to provide secondary data review for the data generated within the Environmental Laboratory Section and also to assist the Quality Assurance Officer, as well as the management team in the implementation, maintenance, and documentation of the Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS). Specifically, the work of this position relates to the scope of testing for the US EPA Safe Drinking Water Act certification, the field of testing for ISO17025 accreditation, methods certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act regulations, and all other relevant testing methodology.

Responsibilities include:

Managing the data generated within the Environmental Laboratory Section.

Assisting in maintaining parts of the QMS in the Environmental Laboratory Section.

Supporting efforts to ensure testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Participating in process improvement projects using established quality improvement principles.

Minimum Qualifications

and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held:

A bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific field.

Two (2) years of experience in laboratory evaluation and quality control and quality assurance

Experience operating and/or maintaining laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

Minimum qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:

The ability to work independently and collaboratively to problem solve, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Technical knowledge of analytical techniques being evaluated.

Knowledge of environmental quality system regulations, drinking water regulations, principles of quality control and quality assurance, and data reduction and reporting techniques.

The ability to follow quality control procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy of tests using documented methods.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.

Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, patterns, and trends and to be able to do extensive research and review of corrective action procedures.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on an infrequent basis.

Additional Requirements

Must successfully pass a background and reference check.
