Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the cloud. You will join a diverse, cross-functional team and work on challenging problems to deliver safety, security, capacity, and cost efficiency for customers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. We foster innovation, invest in new ideas, and continuously improve performance, quality, and cost. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging role with opportunities to influence industry roadmaps and to own significant design decisions. What you will do
As a member of the Server Hardware Engineering team, you will own and lead the design and development of server products, collaborating with a wide range of design and manufacturing partners. You will work with customers to understand technical needs and business goals, architect solutions, and deploy at scale. You will lead an interdisciplinary team of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers, and partner with design and manufacturing teams to bring servers to the data center. After launch, you will oversee the fleet to monitor quality and alignment with customer requirements. This is a fast-paced role requiring high standards and a drive to improve product performance, quality, and cost. You will work with thought leaders across multiple technology areas and help shape future hardware developments for AWS customers. Basic Qualifications
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity Bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent 5+ years experience with design and manufacturing processes 5+ years experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in product development and manufacturing In-depth expertise in one or more server technologies (e.g., thermal/mechanical design, high-speed bus design and signal integrity, failure analysis, server components such as CPU/GPU/SSDs, BIOS, BMC, networking) Excellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field 10+ years hardware development with focus on system/server development for large-scale applications Experience with interdisciplinary teams from concept to production Expertise in early product definition and feature tradeoff analysis Experience with server validation and root-cause analysis Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers Proficient scripting, debugging abilities, and Linux commands Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams Company and Equal Opportunity
