Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering team creates compute and storage server designs for Amazon’s web services. Our engineers work with leading‑edge technologies, solve challenging problems, influence the industry’s roadmaps, and develop new and unique solutions that are ahead of the pack. Responsibilities Own and lead the design and development of server products utilizing a wide range of design and manufacturing partners. Work closely with customers to understand their technical needs and business goals, leveraging your experience with server design and knowledge of various teams to architect solutions that will be deployed at scale. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of component, firmware, test, qualification, and integration engineers; lead design and manufacturing partners to bring servers to the data center. After launch, oversee the fleet of servers you develop, monitoring their quality and how they meet customer requirements. Maintain high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, constantly looking for ways to improve products’ performance, quality, and cost. Basic Qualifications Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures. Experience in server technologies such as thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent. 5+ years experience with design and manufacturing processes. 5+ years experience leading ODMs and other suppliers in product development and manufacturing processes. In depth expertise in one or more server technologies: thermal/mechanical design, high‑speed bus design and signal integrity, failure analysis, server components (e.g., CPU, GPU, SSDs, drives), BIOS, BMC, and networking. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production. 10+ years hardware development with focus on system/server development in compute and/or storage server architecture for large-scale applications. Expertise in early product definition and feature trade‑off analysis. Experience with server validation and issue root‑causing. Experience with deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers. Proficient scripting, debug abilities, and Linux operations commands. Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams. Compensation The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $257,300/year in our highest geographic market.
