The Aerospace Corporation Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG supports major customers including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, while providing a broad range of services across the national space enterprise. This position will support Air Force Futures (HAF A5/7) in developing an enterprise portfolio management solution integrating mission engineering with capability development data across areas such as manpower, budget, acquisition, and operations, to create fully burdened capability development plans and force designs. The role focuses on implementing and improving data decision tools. What You\'ll Be Doing
Collaborating with product owners to understand core application needs and inform the product roadmap Translating product requirements into technology requirements and work items Setting attainable goals for sprints and milestone planning Designing and validating architecture decisions to support the above Overseeing software development and providing quality assurance by guiding development and testing output Overseeing application maintenance and providing quality assurance Creating and maintaining project documentation (development practices, quality assurance guidelines, etc.) Overseeing release process, change management, and migration strategies Providing cloud subject matter expertise to Joint and Multi-Domain customers Developing prototypes to help customers understand the latest software technologies and concepts Providing guidance on reference cloud architectures and best practices for customer enterprise solutions Growing departmental knowledge through work, training assignments, and technical leadership What You Need to be Successful
Senior Project Engineer, Software Architecture Engineering and Cloud Computing Architecture Minimum Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in STEM, with emphasis in Computer Science or other sciences/engineering discipline 10 or more years of relevant experience developing and delivering software applications and managing software development teams Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills Experience with managing software development teams across the full stack, including UI development, data schema management, API development, UX best practices, etc. Proven experience with commercial cloud technologies (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) Familiarity with containerization systems (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Familiarity with cloud security concepts (e.g., network security, identity and access management) Familiarity with DevSecOps processes and tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify) Proficient in Python, HTML, and CSS Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a cross-functional matrixed organization Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US Government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Some travel is required How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following: Advanced degree in Computer Science or other sciences/engineering discipline Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud-based applications supporting real users Working knowledge of every layer in a cloud technology stack (e.g., virtualization infrastructure, operating systems, application hosting platforms, cloud native application design) Military operations experience and/or familiarity with DoD acquisitions processes Certifications related to cloud computing (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) Certifications related to cybersecurity (e.g., Security+, CISSP) An active Secret or Top Secret security clearance We offer a competitive compensation package where you\'ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.
