Overview
Contra Costa County is recruiting to fill multiple Eligibility Worker II vacancies in the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD). EHSD works to provide the community with resources that support, protect, and empower individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency. Responsibilities
Conduct interviews with applicants to determine eligibility and need for social programs and services Apply complex state and federal regulations to ensure accurate determinations Initiate procedures to grant, modify, deny, or terminate eligibility for various assistance programs Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in case management systems Handle sensitive personal and financial information with confidentiality and integrity Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on changes in laws, policies, and procedures Refer clients to additional services or community resources Utilize multiple systems and databases simultaneously
Qualifications
License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (out-of-state licenses accepted during the application process) Education: High school diploma or GED equivalency or high school proficiency certification Experience: Six (6) months of full-time experience in a classification in a California County with responsibility for public assistance eligibility determination

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an online assessment measuring competencies related to the Eligibility Worker II classification. The assessment will be administered remotely, with a reliable internet connection and computer required. Competencies may include Critical Thinking, Mathematical Facility, Adaptability, Attention to Detail, Ownership, Self-Management, and Writing (weighted 100%). Hiring Interview:
The Human Resources Department may modify the examination steps as needed in accordance with regulations and accepted practices.
