Overview
Position Summary and Job Description: Perform complex troubleshooting, specialized tests, inspections, and appraisals on electrical apparatus and electrical systems. Technically support a region of service engineers. The Senior Field Engineer position requires little or no direct supervision and may be mentally demanding with multiple projects and activities at once. Responsibilities
Perform complex troubleshooting, specialized tests, inspections, and appraisals on electrical apparatus and electrical systems. Test and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, complex UPS/Battery systems and all types of power metering. Lead large projects requiring specialized skills such as UPS acceptance tests, commissioning of larger DC systems, supervising turnkey projects, detailed power surveys and other types of electrical consultation. Instrumental in developing tests and inspections in new areas of field services. Troubleshooting capabilities include use of AC/DC load-banks and power quality recording instrumentation, and testing/troubleshooting equipment associated with UPS, Charger, and Battery testing. Perform installation and start-up services on all UPS and DC/Battery Systems. May perform and/or supervise a full range of complex engineering studies. Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of project, using a computer, and accurately process job billing. May perform complex analysis and evaluative tasks necessary to complete equipment labeling projects consistent with recognized industry and international standards, local jurisdiction requirements and Company procedures. Perform sales support functions. Maintain strong client relationships. Prepare and contribute to written job proposals to clients, including estimates of man-hours and expenses, development of scope and pricing. Actively involved in client interface and business development activities. Deliver effective technical presentations and, if required, publishable articles. Mentor other Field Service Engineer positions. Train and assist other Field Service Engineers in the region. Qualifications and Competencies

Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME with six years of experience, or graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent with nine years minimum experience, or high school education with ten years minimum experience. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and standards such as OSHA and NFPA. Special skills in power quality surveys, start-up and testing related to ANSI, NEC, NEMA, and UL specifications; UPS systems, drive systems, complex control systems; medium and high voltage substation start-up; vibration analysis. Strong background in testing switchgear and equipment up to 500 kV class. Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus testing and strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems. Ability to complete projects on budget and communicate effectively in writing and verbally with clients, peers, and management. Strong computer skills including Word processing, templates, internet research, and operation of test equipment. Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work. Available for out-of-town and international travel up to several weeks. Seniority level
